Route
Phuket → Chiang Mai → Mycelium
The Rabbit Hole
Two days at Mycelium
Start here
Most people meet Thailand on a beach. We start there too, then head north to Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai is Thailand’s cultural heart: Lanna temples inside old city walls, northern food, night markets, mountain air and a creative streak that runs through its cafés, studios and stages.
Then, in the forest, Mycelium: independent music and art, for a whole weekend.
This is the Thailand that doesn’t show up on a beach checklist. It’s the one this trip is about.
First night out, Phuket.
01
Listen
Ease in with the islands and the north while the festival weekend builds ahead.
02
Go inside
Camp at Mycelium for the weekend: music in the trees, stages to wander between, nights you lose track of on purpose.
03
Leave with a new soundtrack
Come home knowing a side of Thailand you didn’t know existed.
Sound
Curious
“I like music.”
Listening
Start recognising the scene.
Inside it
Experience the festival, the artists and the late nights properly.
Rabbit Hole
Start looking up the next city by its music scene.
Day by day
Two island days, three days in the north, then the festival weekend the whole trip builds towards.
Days 1–8
Chapter 1Phuket
Phuket
Arrive, drop your bags and ease into Phuket through the Old Town. Sino-Portuguese shophouses, cafés, side streets and a first look at the island beyond its beaches.
Come evening, we slow things down over dinner by the coast.
Core Experiences
Optional
Phuket
Today is for the water. We head out towards Maya Bay for a full day of limestone cliffs, clear water, snorkelling and long stretches on the boat.
Swim, sunbathe or simply do nothing for a while. The evening is yours to take as slowly or loudly as you like.
Core Experiences
Optional
Chapter 2Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai
Beach mode ends. Mountain mode begins. We fly north to Chiang Mai, where the pace shifts to temples, leafy lanes, old city walls and northern Thai food.
Later, see the city from the river before settling into the evening.
Core Experiences
Optional
Chiang Mai
We head into the mountains for Doi Inthanon. Expect forest trails, waterfalls, sweeping viewpoints and the Twin Pagodas high above the clouds.
Back in Chiang Mai, the evening is open for markets, food and wandering.
Core Experiences
Optional
Chiang Mai
A day for getting to know Chiang Mai properly. Walk through the Old City from Wat Chedi Luang to Wat Phra Singh and the Three Kings Monument, with plenty of room for coffee, Lanna food and unplanned detours.
Then we get ready for the festival weekend.
Core Experiences
Optional
Chapter 3 · Days 6–7
Inside Mycelium.
Five days of islands and mountains, and this is where the trip has been heading. Two days and a night inside an independent music and arts festival in the forest.
We camp on site, so the festival isn’t somewhere you visit. For a weekend, it’s where you live.
MyceliumSound day
Today, the schedule gets simple. We head to the festival, settle into the grounds and let the day unfold around the music.
Find your stage, wander between sets, dance, sit back or disappear into the crowd for a while. This is one of those days best left lightly planned.
Core Experiences
Mycelium → Chiang MaiSound day
One last slow morning at the festival. Breakfast, coffee, final walks around the grounds and time to soak it all in before packing up and heading back to Chiang Mai.
After a shower and reset, we step out for dinner and the Sunday Walking Street around Ratchadamnoen Road and Tha Phae Gate. If there’s still energy left, the night can keep going.
Core Experiences
Optional
Chiang Mai
A slow final morning after a very full week. Breakfast, final coffees, last-minute wandering and the familiar struggle of fitting everything back into your suitcase.
Then come the airport rides, exchanged numbers and slightly-too-long goodbyes.
Core Experiences
An outline, not a schedule. Days shift with weather, festivals and the group. An optional two-day Chiang Mai extension around the Lantern Festival is available, subject to availability and at additional cost.
What you come back with
Music makes more sense when you know who is making it and where it comes from.
Less beach checklist. More people, places and sounds you probably wouldn’t have found yourself.
The nights become part of the journey, not an optional add-on.
Questions
This trip is a way into a music scene, not a trip for people who already know every name on the line-up.
Come with open ears. The rest happens on the way.
No.
Mycelium is an independent music and arts festival in the forest, and the line-up comes from the festival itself. Ask us and we’ll share what’s confirmed for this year.
No. Music and nightlife are part of the journey, but it’s still a Voyagio trip: islands, mountains, temples and food, with the festival weekend as the high point.
You don’t have to. Nights out in Phuket and Chiang Mai are optional and some evenings are free. At the festival you set your own pace: stay by the stage until late or turn in early at camp.
Yes. The festival portion includes camping before we return to Chiang Mai on Day 7.
Most people do. Solo travellers are the norm on a Voyagio trip, not the exception.
